AI Platform Engineering

AI for Marketplaces

AI inside the marketplace you already run, for sellers and buyers alike.

We engineer AI into the marketplace you already run: seller onboarding that reads documents and checks identity, listings that arrive categorised and clean, search that matches buyers with the right sellers, and trust and safety work that brings a person the evidence before they decide.

Both sides of the market, under your rules

Each feature is wired into the listing, payment and trust systems you already run, and every release is tested against your own cases before a buyer or a seller sees it.

Matching in plain words

A renter's sentence becomes a ranked shortlist of verified listings, weighed against availability, location and your marketplace rules.

  • AssistantThe seller lists it as food-safe and accepts returns on unused pieces. Shall I add it to your basket?
  • BuyerIs it safe for food, and can I return it if the colour is off?

Listings a person approves

New listings are categorised, checked and drafted into your format, and the ones that need a look wait for your team.

Every release tested first

Matching, moderation and risk changes are checked against your own cases before buyers and sellers see them, and the last good release is one step back.

What we engineer into a marketplace

The pieces we build most often for multi-vendor marketplaces, property platforms and talent platforms. Each one connects to your listings, accounts, payments and support tools, and each one is judged on your own data.

  • Seller and provider onboarding

Identity documents, business registrations and bank details read and checked as sellers, landlords or freelancers sign up, with clear cases moving straight through and unclear ones sent to a person with the reason shown.

  • Categorisation and attribute normalisation

Every new listing placed in the right category, with sizes, materials, colours and amenities pulled into consistent attributes from free-text titles, descriptions and photos, so filters and search work across every seller.

  • Duplicate and counterfeit detection

Near-identical listings, reused photos and suspicious copies of branded goods caught by comparing text and images across sellers, with each match shown side by side to the person who decides.

  • Search and matching

Buyers, renters and clients describe what they want in their own words. Semantic search and ranking match them with listings, homes or freelancers, weighing availability, location, ratings and the rules you set.

  • Text and image moderation

Listings, messages, reviews and profile photos checked against your policies before they go live, with prohibited items, contact-sharing and abuse flagged, and borderline cases queued for your trust and safety team.

  • Risk and fraud scoring

Signals across accounts, listings, payments and messages that flag fake sellers, account takeovers and payment fraud, with the reasons laid out so a person can act on them, not just a score.

  • Price and fee suggestions

Suggested prices for sellers, rents for landlords and rates for freelancers, drawn from comparable listings and demand, plus fee and promotion options your marketplace team reviews before they go live.

  • Dispute triage

When an order, tenancy or project goes wrong, the dispute is classified, the messages, photos, tracking and payment records are gathered into one case, and a person makes the decision.

  • Buyer and seller assistants

Conversational assistants that answer buyers from listings and policies, help sellers write listings and understand fees, and hand over to your support team on the topics you choose.

Agentic commerce

When the buyer is an AI agent

Buyers are starting to search, compare and check out through assistants that act for them, and those agents shop across marketplaces as readily as single stores. The Agentic Commerce Protocol from OpenAI and Stripe launched with Etsy sellers, and Etsy is among the first partners of Google's Universal Commerce Protocol.

We make a marketplace readable and buyable by those agents: structured listings with clean attributes, verified sellers an agent can trust, an MCP server over search, cart and orders, and the rules that decide what an agent may do on a buyer's behalf.

From one side of the market to both

AI-powered marketplace development usually starts with one feature on one side of the market. We build it inside your stack, prove it on your data and hand it to your team.

  1. 01

    Scope

A short readiness sprint in your listings, seller records and trust and safety data to choose the first feature and agree how it will be judged.

  2. 02

    Build

Engineers work in your repositories and your cloud, wiring the feature into the listing, search, payment and support systems you already run.

  3. 03

    Prove

We test on your own cases before launch, then release to a share of sellers or buyers and watch the measures you chose, with a rollback ready.

  4. 04

    Hand over

Runbooks, review queues, dashboards and a trained team. You own the code, the prompts and the evaluation set; we can stay on to run it if you want.

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to rebuild our marketplace to add AI?

No. We build on the platform you run, whether that is a packaged marketplace product or a custom stack, through its APIs and in your own cloud. Each feature ships as a service your marketplace calls.

Which feature should we start with?

Usually the one where listing quality or trust hurts most: onboarding checks, categorisation or moderation. The readiness sprint compares candidates on your own data and picks one with a clear way to judge it.

Will AI decide which sellers are suspended or which disputes are lost?

No. AI sorts, scores and gathers the evidence; decisions about a seller's account, a payout or a dispute stay with your team, and every flag shows the reason behind it. You choose which low-risk cases, such as an exact duplicate, may be handled without review.

How is identity and personal data handled?

Documents and personal data are processed in your cloud, under your retention rules, with access limited to the people and services that need it. Extraction and moderation are tested on your own cases, including the edge cases, before release.

Does this work for property and talent marketplaces too?

Yes. The mechanics are the same: onboarding and verification, structured listings, matching, moderation, risk and disputes. Homes, freelancers and products need different attributes and checks, and we model those on your data.

Who owns the models, prompts and data?

You do. The code, prompts, evaluation sets and any fine-tuned weights are yours, in your repositories and your cloud. We build on open or hosted base models you approve.
